GENERAL QUESTIONS

What are the school DAYS AND TIMINGS?

Sharjah English School follows a 4-day school week that runs from Monday to Thursday.

  • Foundation: 7:50 am - 1:50 pm (N/A for ECAs)
  • Primary: 7:50 am - 2:50 pm (ECAs: 2:30 pm - 3:40 pm)
  • Secondary: 7:40 am - 3:40 pm (ECAs: 3:40 pm - 4:30 pm)

*ECAs are optional extracurricular activities that happen after the regular school hours.

What is the dress code?

Who governs the school?
The Board of Governors of SES meets each month to oversee the strategic functioning of the school, operating under the Sharjah English School Constitution. In partnership with the Principal and Bursar, the Board addresses issues of policy and concern for staff and parents, manages the finances of the school and makes medium and long-term plans for the development of the school. What extracurricular activities are offered?
We offer a wide range of teacher-led extra-curricular activities and clubs to all students, after school, Monday to Thursday. Students are expected to attend at least one school club every term. Many students also participate in inter-school sporting competitions after school.
Can my child take music lessons at school
Yes students have the opportunity to sign up for peripatetic lessons that take place during the school day. The fees for this are shared at the beginning of each term. 
Transportation
SES school buses are operated by Combinestar Transport services which has had a 13-year partnership with SES. IS SES ACCREDITED BY THE BSO (BRITISH SCHOOLS OVERSEAS)?
Yes. SES is recognised by the DfE (Dept for Education) in England as a British School Overseas (BSO). Read about our accreditations and inspections reports here.
What is the Curiosity Approach that the school follows?

In the Foundation Stage at SES the curriculum is planned and resourced to ignite the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and to provide opportunities for all children to succeed in a secure atmosphere, one in which they feel valued. Read about the Curiosity Approach here.

What is the curriculum like?
We cater to students aged 3 to 18, with classes running from Foundation through to A-level, following a broad, challenging, and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales.

How can I ensure that my child is safe at school?

How do I know what house my child is in?
Parents will be informed about the house allocation when they receive the welcome pack by email. This is usually sent out after the registration process is finalised for those who join school mid year. Students who join at the beginning of Term 1 will receive their welcome pack by July.
What documents should I prepare before moving to Sharjah or the UAE?

How do I know if the bus can pick up my child?
Please contact the school bus transport company to ensure that your residential location is being serviced at the times required for your child. Please visit our bus information here.
Does my child need to purchase a house tie?
Students in years 7 to 13 will need a school tie in their house colour. These must be purchased from the school uniform shop. For more information, please visit our uniform page.
When do I need to register my child with SPEA (Sharjah Private Education Authority)?

SPEA registration must be completed one week from the date of joining school. Please ensure that all your documents are ready and attested if necessary beforehand. Please review the requirements for Transfer Documents here.
